Paris to London: Take 1

I arrived in Paris early on Sunday morning and after spending just one night in my new home at L’Institut National du Sport, de l’Expertise et de la Performance (INSEP), I hit the road and hopped on a train from Paris to Rouen. Tuesday night I competed at the Meeting International de Sotteville les Rouen jumping 16.74m (my second best performance of the year) and on Wednesday morning it was back to Paris.

I am literally just about to hit the road to leave Paris once again though, this time to head to London to compete at the London Aviva Grand Prix which will be my last competition before the Olympic Games. I competed at this Diamond League meeting last season and certainly enjoyed the competition and the atmosphere. This time around though, I’ve got a meet under my belt since arriving in Europe and considering how good I feel, I’m looking to really put down a great performance in this last tune up before the games.

After the competition it’s back to Paris/INSEP before making the trip to London again in less than two weeks and of course then, it will be to move into the Olympic Village. This weekend should prove to be a pretty good rehearsal though.

Samyr, I would just like to tell you how proud I am of you. You’re the embodiment of strenght and courage. You’re a true inspiration, not only to me personally but to the Haitian people and others around the world who may think some dreams are too big to accomplish. I asked the Lord to strenghten you this Thrusday, however the results turn out, you have made an indelible mark in Olympic history and I’ll keep watching as you shine on like a true champion.

    Samyr,

Not every athlete can make it to the 11th place in the world. Don’t know U but I am very proud of your commitment to Haiti.

Bravo mon cher et bonne chance pour le futur!

My dear , thank you for being so brave and stand up for Haiti. Not anyone would do that given the stigma and hatred that Haitians have here in the USA. I feel you are going to be a great leader for your people . To be one of the top 20 men in the whole world, wow. I cry watching you. Please come home to Haiti soon and visit. Once again thank you and Gods bless you
